Kris Holmen knew he wanted to instill a good work ethic in his children. The kind of work ethic often found in farmers caring for animals who are dependent on them for survival. That, along with his curiosity and admiration for the American Bison, led him to dream up and pursue his own small bison ranch in central Minnesota. Determined to live the authentic life with his family and provide Mid-Westerners with natural, sustainable meat, Hellbent Bison began its story in 2015.
Bison meat is a nutrient-dense food because of the proportion of protein, fat, minerals and fatty acids to its caloric value. It is lower in fat & cholesterol than beef, chicken & even salmon and is higher in protein, iron and vitamin B12 than beef.
We substitute bison meat for all meals requiring beef. Spaghetti, Hamburger Helper, Burgers...you name it! But here are a few of our favorite recipes if you want to create a healthy, special meal to enjoy for dinner tonight.
